We welcomed Clyde to the Rock this evening for matchday 25 of this William Hill League 2 campaign, the visitors making the journey from Hamilton for the rearranged fixture.

Boss Frank McKeown made two changes from the weekend’s match away to East Kilbride with Tony Wallace dropping to the bench for Scott Honeyman to come in while Mikey Doyle dropped out with a slight knock to be replaced by skipper Mark Durnan.

The Sons got us underway under the lights at the Marbill Coaches Stadium after a slight delay due to a hole in Brett Long’s net spotted by the officials.

A cagey opening to the match was broken when Leighton McIntosh stung the gloves of Jay Hogarth from range after 20 minutes as the Sons looked to take an early advantage.

In a half dominated by Dumbarton both Durnan and Honeyman went close, but we went in at the break with the deadlock still intact and neither keeper overly tested.

The second half was interrupted early due to a bad knock for former Sons player Jinky Hilton who was stretchered off, all at the club wish Jinky a speedy recovery.

Chances in the second period would again be few and far between, Jack Duncan would head over from an Adam Livingstone free kick while at the other end Kristian Webster would deny Scott Williamson a certain goal with a brilliant tackle.

Long would make a fantastic save to his left to deny Clyde an opener with his first call into action of the evening.

Hogarth would match him at the other end producing a great stop to deny McIntosh who had been played through by Honyeman.

Sam Campbell fired over inside the Sons box late on as Clyde pushed the Sons defence towards full time.

Despite an extended injury period after Hilton’s knock neither side could find a winner, and each will feel disappointed to only leave with a point with Tommy Robson denying Scott Tomlinson off the line after Hogarth was left in no-mans-land.

Next up is an away trip to Stirling Albion at Forthbank this Saturday at 3pm.
