Vastly experienced midfielder Josh returned for a second spell at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches, almost a decade after his first, inking an 18 month deal in January 2026 after being an ever-present for the Annan Athletic for the past two seasons.

Josh started his career with hometown club Carlisle United before moving to Galabank, initially on loan, before making the move permanently. Three impressive seasons followed, with Stevie Aitken bringing Josh to G82 in 2016.

His performances across 27 games as a Dumbarton player quickly led to a move to St Mirren, with Josh going on to represent Queen of the South across three spells, and also serving as the Doonhamers’ captain, as well as turning out for Dundee, Falkirk and Ayr United.

He returned to Annan for a second spell in the summer of 2024, making 44 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign – and a further 30 the following campaign. A change in work circumstances saw Josh leave Galabank, with Sons boss Frank McKeown moving quickly to bring him back to The Rock.

In the summer of 2026 he was appointed as the club’s vice-captain.
