Dumbarton scored late to gain a well deserved point against Stranraer this afternoon.

In a tight first-half, the visitors scored on the half-hour when Mark Russell nipped in at the front post to put his side ahead.

Leighton McIntosh nearly responded for Dumbarton with a powerful strike following a smart pass from Ryan Blair then a neat touch, but Josh Lane made a smart save.

Sons were on top for much of the second period as Dom Docherty narrowly missed the target following good work from Ally Roy and a number of crosses and corners put the home goal under threat.

The equaliser eventually came in added time when the ball fell for Kai Kirkpatrick on the edge of the area and his strike found the bottom corner.

Sons host Stirling Albion next weekend.
