Dumbarton were on the wrong end of a seven-goal contest against Edinburgh City this afternoon.

Two penalties from Robbie Mahon had the hosts in a commanding position before Bradley Barrett increased the lead in the fifth minute of time added on.

The second period was only a couple of minutes old when Innes Lawson lobbed in the fourth and Sons were staring a heavy defeat in the face.

Leighton McIntosh pulled two goals back, however, and substitute Tony Wallace scored a third – the fourth penalty of the game – to set up a grandstand finale but there was no equaliser.

With Tuesday nights KDM Evolution Trophy tie against Inverness postponed, Dumbarton are back in action against East Kilbride next weekend.
