Aidan is Stags Head Player of the Month

Congratulations to goalkeeper Aidan Rice who won the Stags Head Player of the Month award for April.

The 19-year-old Celtic stopper has made himself a firm fans’ favourite at The Rock – Sponsored by Marbill Coaches since joining the club on deadline day in February.

He’s turned in a host of top class displays between the sticks, including a stunning double save in our 1-1 draw against Stranraer at the beginning of the month that left the Blues’ commentators almost lost for words. That was followed up with another assured display as we secured League Two safety against Stirling Albion a week later.

Aidan received his award from our Associate Director for Commercial Jamie Moses at the Dumbarton East pub.

Aidan is the seventh player to scoop the prize this season; joining teammates Ally Roy, Kai Kirkpatrick, Scott Honeyman, Adam Livingstone, Leighton McIntosh and Ali Omar.

Under the new ownership of David Davidson and the Enlightened Hospitality Group, the Stags Head have been hugely supportive of the club already this season including hosting last year’s successful Meet Mario event. They also provided valuable support to the Sons Supporters Bus last season, something which is continuing this season.

Their four-figure investment into the club has seen a new Stags Head double advertising board installed pitch-side, with fan votes for The Stags Head Player of the Month taking place from July to April this season.

David Davidson, Stags Head owner, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Dumbarton FC for season 2025/26 and share in the excitement of the vision of Mario, who was brilliant when he spoke to fans at the Stags in June.

“Anyone who has visited the pub recently will see plenty of black and gold which demonstrates how proud we are to be a pub for Dumbarton fans, in the town, near the stadium. Presenting Player of the Month awards is the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate success at the club and we wish Mario, Frank and everyone at the club all the very best for the season.”
