Congratulations go to all the winners at last night’s Sonstrust Player of the Year night.
Hosted at the Marbill Coaches Stadium and organised by Trust volunteers, players and officials from our men’s, women’s and Lowland Development League U20s came together to celebrate their achievements this season.

Women’s team
Player of the Year
Eva has played in 20 matches this season. Having joined Dumbarton United Girls in 2016 Eva has gone on to make 70 appearances for our Women’s team. Her lightning pace makes her a natural winger on her favoured left side but will often be called upon to play as a box to box midfielder and even in central defence.
Injury kept Eva out of the side for eight weeks either side of Christmas but returned to the side scoring 10 times in seven matches coinciding with an upturn in fortune for our team. Eva is team captain and leads by example. Her efforts this season have been appreciated by her team mates and recognised by the coaching team.
Players’ Player of the Year
Having joined Dumbarton United in 2021, Neamh’s made 55 appearances over three seasons for the Women’s team playing 22 times this season.
Her natural ability allied to her incredible pace and defensive ability have made her a tremendous asset in defence at both right back and in central defence. Neamh’s skills have also seen her play in central midfield and occasionally on the wing. Her easy going yet determined nature have made her a very popular member of the side and this is reflected in her being voted Players’ Player of the Year by her teammates.
Alison Wright Award for Manager’s Player of the Year
Lucia joined Dumbarton United in 2017 and has been a permanent fixture in our sides ever since. Lucia has played 25 times this season and has made 74 appearances over three years for the Women’s team.
The Alison Wright Trophy pays tribute to a great supporter of our girls since they began playing 10 years ago and has been awarded to players who demonstrate their undoubted talent and also show a real commitment and dedication to the team and their fellow team mates.
Lucia could have deservedly won this award in the past but this year despite strong competition we are delighted to honour her. Lucia has made the left back position her own over the years and is the definition of reliability where she never lets her team or teammates down and regularly turns in exceptional performances. She’s also very technically gifted and is very creative in the final third. She is absolutely selfless and we’ve seen this displayed on occasion when she’s been prepared

With four matches left Gemma McGarry (20 goals) is in a battle with Eva McInnes (16 goals). Gemma began playing with Haldane’s boys team in 2013 and her development caught the eye of Rangers where she played youth football.
Dumbarton were delighted to welcome local girl Gemma into our side little over a year ago and she has gone on to make 25 appearances for the club since.
Gemma has played 17 times this season scoring an incredible 17 times in her first 12 matches including some unbelievable strikes often creating chances where none would seem to exist.
She leads the line for the team and her teammates take great confidence in her lining up alongside them.
A cruel injury has kept Gemma out for seven weeks and we’re pleased to see her return before the end of the season.
Eva McInnes 16 goals Eva has stepped up in Gemma’s absence scoring 10 goals in seven matches. Competition is fierce between the two but nonetheless both are great team players and have created many of each other’s goals. Both are very lucky to benefit from the service provided.
