Tony recognised for 150 appearances

Tony Wallace has been presented with a framed shirt after hitting 150 appearances for the Sons.

After graduating from our youth system the attacker made his Dumbarton debut back in July 2010, starting at right-back in a 5-1 defeat to Queen of the South in the League Cup.

That would be the first of 35 appearances he’d make for the club during his first spell – which culminated with a memorable run of three goals in four games as we won promotion to the Second Division via the playoffs in May 2012.

Tony’s form, now as a flying winger, attracted the attention of Morton – who paid a development fee to take him across the Clyde.

After 11 years away, Tony returned to the Marbill Coaches Stadium in the summer of 2023 – and made it back-to-back promotions, finishing the season as our top scorer with 16 goals as we won promotion to League One.

He was appointed as the club’s vice-captain the following summer following Sean Crighton’s retirement, and played a huge part in helping keep dressing room morale high during one of the most challenging spells in the club’s history.

Tony made his 150th appearance as a Dumbarton player against Forfar Athletic in February, and was presented with a framed shirt prior to Saturday’s victory against Stirling Albion by Sons heroes Lawrie Williams and Roy McCormack.

Boss Frank McKeown said: “It’s a fantastic achievement. Tony has been brilliant as our vice‑captain. To reach 150 appearances in modern football is not easy. We’re all delighted for him.”

Congratulations, Tony!
