It is with much regret that Dumbarton Football Club can announce that Sean Crighton has departed the club with immediate effect.

Sean has been given a fantastic full time coaching opportunity at Queens Park within their Academy and B Team structure, however it does come with a prerequisite is that he is unable to be attached to another SPFL club.

The 34-year-old joined the club from Stenhousemuir last season and was an ever present in the heart of the Sons defence, making 46 appearances across the campaign and finding the score sheet twice.

Manager Stevie Farrell commented: “Firstly, we are absolutely delighted for Sean.

“He recently left Hamilton as an under-18’s coach and now makes the step up to B Team head coach at Queen’s Park which means he has to give up playing and concentrate on his new role.

“We are sad to lose a player and a man of Sean’s stature from our group, he was a pleasure to work with and contributed greatly to a memorable season in the clubs history.

“This news came totally unexpected but I’m sure everyone at Dumbarton will join me in wishing Sean huge success in the next phase of his coaching journey.

“It does mean that we will have to now look to replace Sean as we move forward through the transfer window.”

All at Dumbarton Football Club wish Sean the best of luck as he continues his coaching career, and he will always be welcome back at the Rock as part of the 2023/24 promotion heroes.
