MATCH PREVIEW: IRVINE MEADOW VS DUMBARTON

Dumbarton travel to Irvine Meadow this evening for the penultimate match of their 2025/26 pre-season campaign [kick-off 7:30pm].

Sons have so far had beneficial workouts against Stenhousemuir and Stirling Albion in the Stirlingshire Cup as well as going up against Premiership opposition in the shape of St Mirren on Saturday for what was another worthwhile 90-minutes.

Tonight’s West of Scotland Football League First Division opponents will provide a different test for manager Stevie Farrell as his new look side look to gel together after a busy Summer of comings and goings.

The Sons boss believes that Saturday proved to be a positive exercise for his troops and is hoping for another beneficial match this evening.

He said on Saturday: “St Mirren are a real settled side with real continuity and we are bringing a lot of boys on for the first time and bringing a lot of trialists on as well.

“You get so much out of a game like that physically because you are having to run and move all the time but secondly about game intelligence because you always have to be switched on. We’ll get more out of that than we will most other 90-minute games this pre-season.

“Tonight will probably be a wee bit different from what Saturday was and it’s good for us to encounter that during pre-season.”

Farrell will continue to look at a number of trialists in this evenings match-day squad. Dom Docherty and Gordon Walker went off injured on Saturday and whilst their injuries are not serious, they will be monitored closely.

Supporters travelling to Meadow Park by car this evening are advised to use The Circuit, Quarry Road, Irvine, KA12 8AX to reach the grounds parking via SatNav.

Entry is £5 for adults, payable via cash on the door. Under-15’s go free with a paying adult.
