EXCLUSIVE: SCOTT GLAD TO HAVE STRIKER ON HIS SIDE!

Friday 23rd June 2017

SCOTT GALLACHER has no fears about coming to Dumbarton.

Not even helping Christian Nade with finishing practice – because he knows what’s coming his way.

A cold evening at the Rock in March 2016 – the last time Scott played at Dumbarton – made sure of that.

In goal for Alloa, he picked the ball out of the net three times courtesy of the Frenchman’s hat-trick.

Now he’s a Dumbarton player beside Christian, having signed a one-year contract this afternoon.

And it’s a challenge he’s looking forward to, knowing that Sons will give every team a tough test.

Speaking to www.dumbartonfootballclub.com, Scott said: “It’s a great opportunity to play and show that I can do well at a decent level.

“It was a tough time for me last season, because when I joined St Mirren the chairman was changing and then the manager was changing.

“It had an effect on all the team, but hopefully this time it will be a good start for me.

“I’m excited by the new challenge and it looks as though we are building a strong squad.

“Christian is a good player and certainly somebody I wouldn’t want to play against any time soon!

“When you play against Dumbarton you always get a difficult game – even if you’re a top flight, full-time side.”

Scott has been in sunnier climes recently, but when he returned home, things progressed quickly towards getting him signed.

And similar to fellow signing and ex-Rangers youth Tom Walsh, the presence of assistant manager Ian Durrant was a selling point for Scott – as was the chance to work with other management staff.

He told the website: “I went on holiday at the end of the season and when I returned I got a phone call from the manager. It was all relatively quick.

“I’ve had a training session already and it seems a really good changing room with some big personalities.

“I’ve known Durranty since my first year full-time with Rangers. He’s been really good with me and with what he’s done in the game, his opinion really counts to people.

“He’s still to come back from his holiday but I know what he’s all about. He’ll work us hard and he gets the best out of everybody.

“Stevie Aitken will be on the players’ backs as well to get the best out of them. He’s been top notch with me since I joined and I just wish there were more people like him in football.

“And I trained with goalkeeping coach Jamie Ewings in my first session. He was really great as well and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
