A goal in each half from Finlay Gray earned Dumbarton three points against Montrose this afternoon.
In windy conditions at Links Park, Sons struck first when Gray latched on to a clipped pass from Ryan Blair to rifle a shot into the top corner.
There were chances for the visitors to add a second with a corner from Ryan Blair clipping the bar from a corner and David Wilson shot just past the post.
Substitute Tony Wallace teed Gray up for a second and he slotted the ball home on 77 minutes.
Blair McKenzie pulled one back in the closing 10-minutes to set up a grandstand finale but Sons stood up as the hosts also finished with ten men after Aidan Quinn’s red card.
