Dumbarton are on the road for the final time in 2024 tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Montrose on William Hill League One duty [kick-off 3:00pm].
It was an afternoon to forget for Sons last weekend who have now suffered back-to-back defeats following Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Annan Athletic.
The Mo returned to winning ways as they picked up a 2-1 victory at Alloa Athletic, with the result moving them closer towards the promotion play-off spaces.
The sides have met once previously this season, at the Rock back in September, with the Angus side picking up all three points with a well-taken goal from Kane Hester – their only effort on goal all afternoon – enough to earn them the victory.
Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell admits Saturday was far short of what he knows his side are capable of and is demanding better tomorrow afternoon.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We have demonstrated that we are a better side than we have shown in the last couple of weeks and we need to get back to the levels we have shown we can reach.
“We have obviously been missing a number of players in key areas over the last couple of weeks but that is no excuse because the squad we have is strong enough to cope with that.
“You know what you are getting with Montrose – they are a very well drilled side who are difficult to break down and just as capable of hurting you in attack.
“For those reasons, it’s important we stay together as a group and look to tighten up ourselves at both ends of the park.”
In team news, Brett Long serves the final match of a two-game suspension. James Hilton and Michael Ruth remain injured. Michael Miller is also out after going off against Annan last weekend. Mark Durnan and Carlo Pignatiello are set to return to the squad.
Sons fans planning to make the journey to Links Park are advised that no supporters bus will be running to the fixture.
There is no pay at the gate facility at Links Park so tickets must be purchased in advance. This can be done in advance online by visiting here: https://montrosefc.co.uk/tickets/. Supporters can also visit the ticket office from 2:00pm where tickets can be purchased using either cash or card.
Tickets are £18 for adults, £10 for concessions and under-12’s go free if accompanied by an adult or concession. Dumbarton supporters should make their way around the back of the Brian J Keith Stand and enter the stadium from the turnstiles located at the East end of Links Park Stadium adjacent to Union Street/Union Row.
