All at Dumbarton Football Club were saddened to hear of the recent passing of chief youth scout Alan McDevitt after a short illness.
Alan was a huge advocate for youth football, not just for DFC, but throughout the whole community of Dumbarton and gave opportunities to countless young footballers in the area. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and worked with him.
First-team analyst and head of youth development Gordon Scanlan worked closely with Alan and said: “I am extremely saddened by Alan’s passing. Alan gave incredible service to Dumbarton Football Club over 2 spells as chief youth scout.
“He was well known to so many in the football community for his incredible work ethic, integrity and commitment as well as being an extremely skilled scout who started off many successful careers.
“Bringing Alan back to the club was the best decision I’ve made since taking on my role and he has contributed massively to the rejuvenation of our youth development programme.
“Alan’s impact will continue to contribute to the club for many years to come and leave a lasting legacy with the young talent he spotted and brought into the club.
“Above all, Alan was a great person and friend who will be missed by all at DFC”
