Defender Ali Omar has committed his future to Dumbarton, extending his contract for the 2026/27 campaign.
The Somalia international, who arrived at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches in January, made a huge impression as a Dumbarton player, playing a key role in driving us towards William Hill League 2 safety, and making himself a firm fans’ favourite in the process.
Ali also helped his homeland to make history, with two rock solid defensive performances as the Somali National Team made it to African Cup of Nations qualifying for the first time.
Having made his home in Dumbarton, Ali has now committed his future to the club ahead of the new season.
Boss Frank McKeown said: “I knew that we were getting a quality player when we signed Ali, and he has been excellent for us.
“His commitment and passion on the pitch instantly made him a huge favourite with the supporters and, living locally, he very quickly built up a strong connection with them.
“Ali wasn’t short of options this summer, but it’s a testament to everyone at the club that we’ve managed to keep him here. He is a top player and a terrific person and we are delighted that he’s staying with the club.”
