Sons defender Ali Omar helped the Somalia National Football Team make history this afternoon, as they secured a place in qualifying for the African Cup of Nations for the very first time.
Our number three started both legs against Mauritius, as the Ocean Stars kept a clean sheet in both matches to take the tie to penalties – where they defeated their opponents.
Ali now sits on nine caps for his nation, and will fly back to Scotland from Mauritius in time for Saturday’s William Hill League 2 meeting with Stranraer on Saturday as he looks to add to his 11 appearances as a Son.
