WOMEN’S MATCH PREVIEW: DRUMCHAPEL UTD VS DUMBARTON
Tomorrow will see our women’s side travel to Glasgow to take on Drumchapel United at the Donald Dewar Centre in the SWFL West [kick-off 1:00pm]
It will be the second meeting between the two sides this season with ‘The Drum’ winning 3-2 against the girls at Mountblow in October with Eva McInnes grabbing both goals on the day.
Dumbarton were held to a stalemate 0-0 draw with West Park last Sunday in a match the girls mostly dominated and are looking to return to winning ways this weekend and get revenge for their defeat earlier in the season.
Our opponents won last week beating Gleniffer Thistle 2-1 to move within a point of the women in the league table and will be aiming to leapfrog the girls in the SWFL West table.
Previewing the match team captain Eva McInnes said: “With Drumchapel being our major rivals and closest to us in the league its going to be a tough game.
“We gave them a really good game earlier in the season, we were 2-0 up but we threw it away in the last 5 minutes to lose 3-2 after being on top and we just want to get our revenge for that.”
Head Coach Gerry Gallacher also spoke about getting the win back after the previous meeting between the sides.
He said: “We were all disappointing with a draw last week, but all eyes are now on Sundays derby with Drumchapel.
“They have strengthened since we last played in our home tie, which we lost very late in the game after being ahead.
“The players are are keen to make amends”
Gerry’s side are missing Sophie Dempster, Olivia Oliver, Lucia Sereno and Iona Russell for this match.
Sophie Reid and Gemma Russell are available once again after missing the match at West Park
All supporters are welcome to come down and support the side who currently occupy 3rd position in the SWFL West table.
