Dumbarton make the journey north tomorrow to take on Cove Rangers [kick-off 3:00pm].
When Sons travelled to the Balmoral Stadium in August, a last-minute header from Mark Durnan earned the visitors a point as he cancelled out Adam Emslie’s opener.
It was a different story at the Rock in November, however, with Cove recording a comfortable 3-0 victory thanks to three second-half goals.
Tomorrow’s opponents have gone five league games unbeaten to keep up the pressure on leaders Arbroath whilst Dumbarton are searching for their first three points of 2025 after another narrow defeat last weekend to Montrose.
Boss Stevie Farrell revealed that he will give players a chance to get minutes in the coming weeks and hopes his players soon get what they deserve.
Speaking post-match last weekend, he said: “I thought a draw would have been a fair result, it was a really good game between two decent sides and we’ve proved we are a decent side.
“I feel for the boys because it is tough for them. They are giving the club everything. Sometimes you get times in life when it just doesn’t go your way and it’s just not going our way this season.
“I’m going to use the squad throughout the rest of the season. I owe it to the players because they are giving me and the club everything so I’m not allowing anymore for them just to turn up every week and sit on the bench week in week out.
“Everybody will play and we’ll make subs with that in mind and give them game time and enjoy some of their Saturday afternoon.
“We know we’re good enough to take points from teams in this division and we just need to keep switched on and get those wee breaks we haven’t been getting. We’re still looking to finish the season on a high.”
Farrell reports that Brett Long, Paddy O’Neil, Matty Sheils and James Hilton are all unavailable for selection.
