Today sees our women’s side make the short journey to Holm Park to take on Clydebank and hopefully start a strong winning run to end their first campaign under the Dumbarton FC banner.
As stated, the match will be at Holm Park, home of Clydebank and Yoker Athletic, with a 12.00pm kick off with all spectators encouraged to come along.
The teams last met before Christmas in early December, with the girls running out convincing 6-0 winners in our home fixture at Argyle Park.
The team’s last match was the disappointing 4-0 home loss to Gleniffer a fortnight ago and Gerry Gallacher and his staff are itching for the team to get back on track.
Ahead of the match he said: “Due to some player movement I am unsure which Clydebank team we will meet today.
“We will be missing first choice goalkeeper, Kira after she injured her hand at training, and she is sitting this one out.
“Nevertheless, we have a strong squad available, and our players will be going all out to win this game, no matter who is between the sticks.”
With some registration issues limiting the first teams use of keepers from the younger squads an outfield member of the squad will need to take Kira’s place between the sticks this afternoon, but assistant coach Kenny McInnes has said due to this the match objective will be to “be in the Clydebank half as much as possible.”
Meanwhile, our opponents who sit 9th at the moment, were also defeated in their previous fixture, losing 3-0 away to West Park United.
Previewing the match Neamh MacNeil said: “We have to be better than last week.
“We have to pass better, shoot better, and work harder as a team.”
Along with Kira Swallow’s absence Gerry’s side are still missing Mya Logan, Gemma Russell and Sophie Dempster along with Iona Russell and Caitlyn Connelly.
However, we do welcome back captain Eva McInnes and Catriona McAllister, who bagged four in her last outing.
