The women’s side matched the men’s this weekend, they followed yesterday’s 6-0 win at Kelty Hearts with their own 6-1 win over Clydebank at Holm Park.
Following last weeks poor performance against Gleniffer Thistle the girls were determined to make amends and did so in emphatic fashion.
Gerry Gallacher made several changes to his side, welcoming back both captain Eva McInnes and forward Catriona McAllister.
However, goalkeeper Kira Swallow picked up an injury in training mid-week and with no alternative able to be registered the duty was split between Lucia Sereno, who kept a first half clean sheet, and Sophie Reid for the second 45.
Playing in the sunshine the girls took the lead inside the opening five minutes with Gemma Smith tucking past the Bankie’s keeper following an excellent pass from Gracie Williamson.

The second followed shortly after with Catriona McAllister continuing her fine form tucking home a rebound after a save from the Clydebank goalie.
The girls would then add a third right on the stroke at half time with McAllister grabbing her second following a great cross from Gemma Smith.
Several changes and a swap of keeper at half-time didn’t slow the girls down any with half-time arrival Casey-Leigh Findlay tucking home to end her scoring drought and put the game beyond any doubt.
The side could relax and enjoy their football In the sunshine, and nobody was enjoying it more than Catriona McAllister who grabbed her third of the match and her seventh in her last two appearances on the hour mark following more good link up play between herself and McInnes.
The hosts did pull one back with a back post header from a deep free kick but Gemma Russell responded only a minute later to seal a 6-1 victory for the side.
Gerry Gallacher was full of praise for his depleted side after their victory.
He said: “First class performance from the team today.
“Considering Clydebank were back at full strength my young Dumbarton players deserve full credit for the way they controlled the game from start to finish.
“It was a game of 4 quarters in today’s heat, and the girls took the foot off the peddle late on.
“Clydebank pushed forward and from a corner bundled ball over line for in a well desreved goal but over the piece a good showing.
“Now we have to take today’s performance into next week’s match.”
The girls travel to face St. Anthony’s in a rearranged fixture from last month at McKenna Park this Sunday with full kick off details to follow on the sides socials.
