Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir couldn’t be separated this afternoon as they battled to a goalless draw.

There were plenty of flash points and talking points, however, in an entertaining share of the points.

Sons were on the front foot early with Michael Ruth and Mark Durnan coming close from corners whilst at the other end Nicky Jamieson headed off target and Matty Yates was denied by the fingertips of Jay Hogarth.

Chances followed after the break when James Hilton bounced an effort just wide and Ross Taylor couldn’t get enough on Yates’ low ball to divert his cross goalwards.

Sons ended the game on the front foot but couldn’t find a way through a determined Warriors defence.

The result sees Dumbarton remain in third place in cinch League Two, six points clear of East Fife in fifth.

Sons travel to Forfar Athletic next weekend.
