Sonstrust strikes Youth Pathway Partnership

Buying your copy of SonsView – our matchday programme – is helping support the next generation of Dumbarton players, thanks to a new agreement between the Sonstrust and DFC.

90% of profits from the sale of copies will now be donated to our Youth Development Pathway, with Sonstrust Associate Director on the board of DFC Robert Ryan and Sonstrust Chair David Brownlee presenting a cheque for £2,500 to owner Mario Lapointe before Saturday’s win against Clyde.

This season the Sonstrust will sponsor the back of the U20s shirts, as well as donating towards the cost of VEO cameras for use by pathway teams – further strengthening our application to join the Club Academy Scotland system.

Last year the club sold almost 2,500 copies of SonsView, which is compiled entirely by a team of volunteers and edited by Graeme Robertson.

Sons Supporters’ Trust chair David Brownlee said: “Supporting the club’s young players was a founding principle of the Sonstrust and we’re delighted to have this new agreement in place.

“The club is putting a real focus on building a strong youth pathway and we’re looking forward to seeing players from our youth system becoming regulars for our men’s and women’s first team in the years to come.”

SonsView editor Graeme Robertson added: “We’re extremely proud of SonsView and the number that we sell each season is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in its production.

“It’s therefore great that every copy sold will now support the development of young players at the club, supporting the aims of having a complete pathway to first team football at The Rock for local players.”

Darren McEwan, Head of Youth Operations at DFC, added: “We’re extremely grateful to the Sonstrust for their support, which comes with a commitment for the future.

“The club is continuing to take big strides on and off the park to grow our academy pathway with the aim of joining the Club Academy Scotland system. Simply by buying your programme each week you’re helping to support that, and bring through the next generation of homegrown heroes.”

SonsView is available in the concourse at every home game, priced at just £3.
