We are thrilled to announce that striker Leighton McIntosh has joined Dumbarton on a permanent deal from Jordanian Pro League side Al Ahli.
Leighton brings proven firepower to our front line, adding to the attacking options alongside Ally Roy and Theo McCormick.
At 32, Leighton offers a wealth of experience he’ll pass on to the likes of Theo and our other promising youngsters such as Panos Grivas. A well-travelled forward, he has featured across every division of the William Hill SPFL with clubs including Dundee, Peterhead, Cove Rangers, and Arbroath, among others.
He returns to Scottish football following a spell in the Middle East, having departed Queen of the South in January. A former Scotland youth international, Leighton’s return is a real boost as we gear up for the new campaign.
With nearly 100 goals in over 300 Scottish league appearances, his eye for goal and experience will be vital as the Sons look to make a strong push this season.
Upon signing Leighton spoke about how the managers desire to bring him in was what helped him make the decision to join the Sons.
He said: “He expressed his interest in me very early on and he was very keen and that does make a difference.
“It’s always nice to feel wanted and I’m glad that we’re finally here and looking to get going into the season.”
On his goals for the campaign he said: “As a team getting rid of that minus 5 as quick as possible.
“I think it’s important for Dumbarton to bounce back up.
“Personally, I want to get back scoring goals in Scottish football.”
