Sons and Mentor Scotland continue partnership
Dumbarton Football Club and Mentor Scotland are proud to announce the continuation of their partnership for the 2026/27 season.
Founded by Bonhill man Jamie MacLean, the charity has worked closely with Sons for more than three years – using the power of football to break down the stigma around mental health.
Jamie and colleagues have had the chance to work with players at the club to raise awareness of the support available and, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we’re proud to extend the partnership into the new campaign.
Jamie MacLean, founder of Mentor Scotland, said: “We’re delighted to renew Mentor Scotland’s partnership with Dumbarton FC. As a community-led organisation based in Dumbarton, it means a great deal to continue working alongside a club at the heart of our local community.
“Announcing the partnership on World Suicide Prevention Day makes it especially meaningful. As a Public Health Scotland registered suicide prevention trainer, I know how important it is to keep conversations around suicide open, help people recognise when someone may need support, and make sure people know they don’t have to face difficult times alone.
“This partnership gives us an important platform to raise awareness of the peer support, groups and wellbeing activities available through Mentor Scotland.
“Let’s continue the conversation and end the stigma attached to mind health.”
Jamie Moses, Commercial Director at DFC, added: “Jamie and Mentor Scotland are involved in magnificent work to support people experiencing mind health challenges within our community, and we’re proud to work closely with them.
“Their work is having a real impact and changing lives, and by continuing to talk openly about mental health we hope that everyone involved at our club – fans, players, coaches, support staff and volunteers – will know that they have somewhere to turn for support.”
