MATCH PREVIEW: HAMILTON ACADEMICAL VS DUMBARTON

Dumbarton round off their 2025/26 Premier Sports Cup campaign with their final Group E fixture against Hamilton Academical at Broadwood tomorrow afternoon [kick-off 3:00pm].

Sons won their opening game against Stirling Albion last Tuesday but that was followed up with 4-0 defeats against Dunfermline Athletic and Heart of Midlothian on matchday three and four.

The Accies can also no longer progress to the second round, following a similar pattern of results with a win over the Binos coming before losses against the Pars and the Jambos.

Boss Stevie Farrell admits there have been positives to take from the campaign and is hoping to finish with a flourish.

Speaking to the clubs websie, he said: “I can be proud of the team, Hearts move the ball so well but I thought we stood up to the game well.

“Hearts were always going to win the game but we can take a lot out of it. We showed resilience and we won’t play anyone near that quality in the League Two season.

“Last Tuesday against Stirling Albion was pleasing for me and the last two games there have been positives to take although we have been up against two really good sides.

“Tomorrow gives a chance to end our participation in the competition on a high. Hamilton are obviously going through a difficult spell at the moment but there are still plenty of quality players in the dressing room, we know it will be a test but we hope that the big surface will suit us and we’ll approach it in a positive manner.”

Adam Livingstone and Ryan Blair won’t be risked tomorrow after picking up knocks in the capital on Wednesday night, they join Brett Long on the sidelines. Kai Kirkpatrick is also suspended and can’t feature.

Supporters making the journey must buy their tickets online with no pay at the gate facility for cash or card. Please visit Fanbase | Hamilton vs Dumbarton to purchase. Away fans should enter through Turnstile C and will have access to food and drink kiosk 2 throughout the match.
