The League Two season kicks off tomorrow as Dumbarton host Clyde at the Marbill Coaches Stadium [kick-off 3:00pm].
Sons start the campaign at the bottom of the division having been hit with a 5-point deduction for entering administration last season and will be looking to cancel that out as soon as possible.
Dumbarton registered two wins from four in the Premier Sports Cup to start the season to record a third place finish in Group E, their best return in the League Cup group stage, whilst the Bully Wee also returned six points from their fixtures.
Boss Stevie Farrell is expecting a tough opening to the season but insists he has the players in the dressing room to make for a successful campaign.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “The start of the league campaign is always a special day and no matter what club you are at or the situation you are in, you are always dreaming of what could happen come the end of the season.
“We have had our difficulties over the last few months but tomorrow is the start of a new era and we are so grateful to everyone who has made sure we are still in a position to be here.
“The season ticket sales have been tremendous so we look forward to playing in front of a big home crowd and we know Clyde will bring a good support so it’ll be a great way to start the season with a lively atmosphere.
“We want to be able to give those fans something to cheer and despite going through a big overhaul in the Summer I feel that we are in a good place. It will take time with so many new players coming in and new relationships to work on but this group have given me everything through pre-season and the Premier Sports Cup games and I know they will continue to do so.”
Boss Stevie Farrell reports he has a full squad to choose from for the season opener, with the exception of Brett Long who continues his comeback from injury.
All fans should enter through turnstiles 1 and 2 which will open from 1:30pm with Bar 72 open for both sets of supporters. A ticketing window will be available beside the main entrance of the stadium, accepting cash and card payments.
Car parking is available at the Marbill Coaches Stadium, costing just £1 and having a half-time draw ticket included. Please be mindful of our neighbours whilst arriving and leaving the stadium.
