An added time penalty from Tony Wallace earned Dumbarton three points against Queen of the South this afternoon.
In a narrow first-half with few chances, Sons came closest to opening the scoring in the second period when James Hilton’s looping volley struck the crossbar.
Michael Ruth opened the scoring for Dumbarton on 73 minutes when his shot trickled into the bottom corner after Kalvin Orsi teed up Finlay Gray.
The visitors levelled 10 minutes later when Kyle Docherty struck a free-kick into the bottom corner.
There was time for a winner, however, with Mark Durnan clipped in the penalty area on 94 minutes and the referee pointed to the spot.
Substitute Tony Wallace stepped up to earn Sons all three points and move them out of the relegation play-off spots in League One.
Dumbarton travel to Alloa Athletic next weekend.
