Two first-half goals were enough for Dumbarton to pick up a 2-1 win over Stranraer this afternoon.

Sons fell behind when Craig Ross nodded in from close range, but immediately responded thanks to Michael Ruth’s strike.

Sean Crighton had a header cleared off the line before Tony Wallace put the home side in front when his driven effort across goal found the bottom corner.

Finlay Gray had a couple of headers to extend his sides lead before the break but he was off target.

After the interval, Sons got into a number of promising positions but couldn’t find the final pass to seal the game.

They were nearly made to pay when Ben Armour snuck in at the back post but Jay Hogarth made a vital save to secure three points.

Sons host Peterhead next weekend.
