Harry to step back from playing

Goalkeeper Harry Broun has taken the decision to step back from playing.

The 23-year-old joined us on a short-term contract from Lowland League West side Cumbernauld Colts following an injury to Aidan Rice, however this week informed boss Frank McKeown that he will be taking time away from football.

The gaffer explained: “Harry wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue in football over the summer, but when we got in touch following Aidan’s injury he was keen to have one last crack at the SPFL and agreed to come onboard.

“Unfortunately Harry feels the time is right to take a step away from playing to focus on life away from football. I was keen to keep him to challenge for the number one shirt, and no matter how hard I tried to convince him to stay he felt the last two games were his last. He was very honest with me and I need to respect his decision. Clearly Mason Munn will now come into the squad for Saturday to take us back to two fit goalkeepers.

“We’re grateful for Harry’s efforts across both his spells with the club. Harry will remain registered as a Dumbarton player for the time being, and knows that the door remains open if in the future he decides to return to football.”

All the best Brouny!
