Dumbarton Rocks: Levengrove – Dumbarton’s very own Indie Band
By Miley Coates
Things are looking up for indie band Levengrove, as they prepare to perform an unmissable set at the Dumbarton Rocks Festival. Here’s what you need to know about the band and their catchy alternative rock tunes.
The local four-man band are playing at Dumbarton Rock Festival on September 27th, and you don’t want to miss it! With community spirits running high, they couldn’t be happier to take a stand on the stage for their hometown to enjoy.
The indie rock locals, made up of Junior, Robbie, Luke and Evan, are ‘buzzing’ to show off their passion for music on stage at the Dumbarton Rocks Festival and are sure to provide an experience to remember.
Levengrove are inspired by artists such as Kings of Leon, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even Francisco Tárrega. With such a wide range of inspiration, there is something for everyone during their thrilling acoustic set.
Junior said: “If I listen to words while I’m trying to study or if I’m trying to learn something, it puts me off. So, I end up listening to piano pieces. I’d say a band that influences the style most within our band is some of the stuff from Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
The members of Levengrove describe their meeting as ‘the stars aligning’, finding each other at parties and through friends of friends. Luke, Levengrove’s lead vocalist, has been writing songs since he was 16, and his talent is nothing short of attention-grabbing.
Junior, Levengrove’s lead guitarist, found his love for music through watching a gig at the Unit23 skatepark in Dumbarton almost 15 years ago. He said: “‘If anybody was willing to play a gig, I was completely sold on it.”
The guys released their first single Third Time’s The Charm in 2020 and now have more than 1,000 listeners on Spotify and 12 released singles.
Levengrove are currently working on an album for next year, spending valuable time in the studio with each another.
Junior continued: “We’re in the process of writing what could be an album, we’re undecided. We’ve got quite a few ideas. We need to get Luke tied down. But yes, we’ll have some more music released next year, and we are hoping to release an album.”
Levengrove describe their future as a band with more passion than ever, detailing dreams of tours and venues across the UK. With Dumbarton Rocks Festival rapidly approaching, their dreams are getting closer.
The band’s motivation comes from their fans and their favourite brand of tequila. Junior added: “We can’t wait to get on stage and put on a show. Performing live is ‘electric’. We love playing for our hometown.”
