Dumbarton Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Owen Hayward from Falkirk.
The goalkeeper joins Sons on a deal until the end of the season as boss Stevie Farrell looked to add another shotstopper to his squad after Brett Long was ruled out for the season.
Owen spent the majority of last season on loan at East of Scotland Football League side Penicuik Athletic where he gained first-team experience.
The 19-year-old has continued to work closely with the Championship leaders and will now continue his development at the Rock, providing competition to Paddy O’Neil and development goalkeeper Luke Smallwood.
Boss Stevie Farrell commented: “We needed to add to our goalkeeping ranks after the injury to Brett and we’re pleased to have brought in Owen.
“He comes to us with a good reputation from Falkirk and already having gained first-team experience at a good level last season, which is not always easy to find in a goalkeeper.
“We’re confident he will provide solid competition to the rest of the goalkeeping department and is ready to take the gloves if needed. We hope it turns to be a beneficial loan spell for all parties.”
Owen will wear the number one jersey in his time with the club.
