VITAL VICTORY FOR DUMBARTON

DUMBARTON have rediscovered winning form after a 1-0 win at home to Stenhousemuir this evening.

After only five minutes, a ferocious effort by Joe McKee was turned over the bar by the visiting keeper.

Then on 26 minutes, a narrow angled effort by Declan Byrne was hacked off the line by a defender. Sons were showing much more attacking threat than on Saturday.

However, a deserved lead was gained seven minutes from half time. Kalvin Orsi did brilliantly to keep the ball in play, and Stenny’s clearance dropped for Finlay Gray to score with a swerving effort.

The visitors threatened from a corner immediately, with the ball staying out from two close range shots.

Chances were fewer in the second half, although Byrne was again unlucky with a shot from distance that was just too high.

That came just after another corner for Stenny caused bother, with the ball flashing across goal and scrambled clear.

The nervous final minutes were seen out, and Dumbarton were back to winning ways.

League action continues on Saturday with an away fixture at Stranraer.
