A hugely popular player during his two seasons as a Son, Sparky played a vital role in maintaining our status as Scotland’s top part-time club between 2015 and 2017.

The left-back joined from Alloa Athletic, and was one of Stevie Aitken’s first additions as Dumbarton boss. A man of many clubs, Sons were the 8th side of Docherty’s career. And after leaving he went on to represent East Fife, Annan Athletic, Forfar Athletic, Edinburgh City, Clyde, Arthurlie and East Stirlingshire – captaining many of the sides.
