Renowned as one of the best lower league goalkeepers of his generation, David is best known for his time with Raith Rovers as a player – where he became a club hero.

David’s playing career started across the Clyde with Greenock Morton, before he made the switch to Starks Park – helping John McGlynn’s side to the 2008/09 Irn Bru Second Division title.

After eight years with the Rovers, and a short loan spell at Stranraer, David moved to Cowdenbeath for three seasons. Before returning to Starks Park, where he helped the Kirkaldy club to promotion back to the Championship in 2020 – also serving as the club’s goalkeeper coach.

A return to Cowdenbeath as a player/coach followed, with David even spending a short time on an emergency loan at Falkirk – before hanging up his gloves and becoming a coach at Kelty Hearts. He joined Sons in the summer of 2026 to replace Eric Phillips after his move to Johnstone Burgh.
