PLANS are already underway for the 2024 Sonstrust Burns Supper, and we invite our supporters to save the date to come and hear from a former Scotland manager.
We will welcome Craig Brown, manager of the men’s national team from 1993 to 2001, to Dumbarton Football Stadium to give the Immortal Memory to Robert Burns on Friday, February 23, 2024.
Now a club ambassador at Aberdeen FC, Craig remains a hugely popular figure with football fans across Scotland. And he will be joined on the night by two of the most in-demand speakers on the Burns circuit.
Giving the toast to the lassies will be Iain Gordon, a former senior officer with Strathclyde Police. With over 25 years’ experience, Iain’s humorous speeches on the Burns and after-dinner circuits are legendary.
Replying for the lassies will be Kerry Burley, a talented speaker, actress and singer who will also perform songs on the evening. Kerry has had a busy calendar of Burns events this year and will give a fine response to Iain’s toast.
A number of other performers are returning to the supper. Stuart Brodie will be performing his masterful recital of Tam o’ Shanter once again, while Graham Hill will recite Robert Service’s epic poem The Haggis of Private McPhee.
Club poet Stephen Watt will showcase his poetry skills once again, while Robert Ryan will perform songs and Colin Lawrie will play the bagpipes.
Tickets for the supper will formally go on sale at a later date, but we invite Sons fans and Burnsians to save the date. Spaces can be reserved now, and tables can accommodate up to eight people.
Please contact Andrew Galloway at email@example.com to reserve spaces, and we will advise when tickets are officially on sale.
Many thanks once again to all those who supported this year’s Burns Supper, which was a hugely enjoyable evening, and we hope we will see you back next year.
Please note that the 2024 Burns Supper is planned to start at the slightly earlier time of 6.30pm.
