SONSTRUST BURNS SUPPER 2023

Thursday 1st December 2022

THE 2023 Sonstrust Burns Supper will take place at Dumbarton Football Stadium on Friday, February 17, and tickets are now available.

Join us on the fifth anniversary of that evening at Oswestry, and celebrate the life and works of Scotland’s National Bard.

The previous suppers held at the stadium have received fantastic responses, and we are enormously looking forward to this season’s event.

The line-up for the evening, which will start at 7pm, has been confirmed and will be as follows:

The Immortal Memory will be given by Stuart Brodie. Stuart, from Newton Mearns, is one of Scotland’s most renowned speakers on all things Burns and is currently president of Sandyford Burns Club in Glasgow. An extremely knowledgeable and in-demand speaker, Stuart will provide a fascinating insight into the life of Burns.

Stuart will also perform his classic recital of the iconic poem Tam o’ Shanter, which he has performed all over the world. It is one not to be missed.

Giving the Toast to the Lassies will be Robert Ryan. A well-known local businessman, independent celebrant and, of course, lifelong Sons fan, Robert has stories and jokes to tell that will have you laughing all through the evening. He is a director of Sandyford Burns Club and has undertaken several speaking engagements at Burns events in recent times.

Robert is also a hugely talented musician, who sings in Glasgow-based band Used Blues, and will be performing songs on the night.

Replying for the Lassies will be Victoria Miller. Victoria is a solicitor with an east of Scotland-based company, and is the daughter of our late and much-missed club photographer Donald Fullarton. Victoria has replied for the lassies at Burns events in London and, paying tribute to Donald, recognised the fact that he would always go through her speeches before she performed them. We are delighted to welcome her as a speaker at this season’s supper.

Club poet Stephen Watt will make a welcome return to the supper, having been unable to attend last year’s rescheduled event, and piper Colin Lawrie will once again show off his skills on the bagpipes.

A three-course supper will also be provided by the club’s new caterer, John Hogan of Clyde Kitchen in Skelmorlie, whose catering at our matchday hospitality has been extremely popular.

Tickets costing £30 can now be purchased by contacting Andrew Galloway at andrewg31@hotmail.com

Please state any dietary requirements you have at the time of booking.

We look forward to seeing you on what should be another great night at the stadium.
