SONS CLAIM POINT AFTER OWN GOAL

Saturday 3rd December 2022

DUMBARTON have taken a 1-1 draw from a demanding game away to Bonnyrigg Rose today.

There was a big escape in the early minutes for Sons when Bradley Barrett shot over from close range for Bonnyrigg.

It looked like the first half, with the home side enjoying the advantage of the slope, had been navigated until the final minute of the first half.

Keeper Brett Long was penalised for a challenge inside the box and Neil Martyniuk converted the spot kick for Bonnyrigg.

Long atoned for the penalty concession early in the second half with a couple of smart saves as the home side resumed play on top.

But an equaliser came out of nothing on 59 minutes. An Edin Lynch (pictured) cross seemed to be a straightforward catch for the Bonnyrigg keeper, but he spilled it and a defender deflected it into his own net.

Sons came under pressure at times in the second half, but dug in enough.

Dumbarton have no game next Saturday, with the next game being at home to Stenhousemuir on Saturday, December 17.
