PREMIER SPORTS CUP VICTORY
Dumbarton kicked off their 2025/26 competitive season with a 1-0 win over Stirling Albion in the Premier Sports Cup this evening.
A second-half own-goal from Kyle Banner, forced by Scott Honeyman, was the difference between the sides at the Marbill Coaches Stadium.
The visitors were reduced to ten men shortly before the goal when Ross Cunningham was dismissed for a lunge on Thomas Falconer in midfield.
Sons had chances to put the tie to bed but the Binos finished the stronger of the sides and came close to forcing penalties.
Dumbarton host Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday before away ties against Hearts and Hamilton.
