Forward Aaron Brown became Dumbarton’s fourth new signing of the January window, joining from Championship side Ayr United.

A product of Kilmarnock’s youth system, Aaron joined the Rugby Park set-up at the age of just eight – and spent 11 years at the Premiership club, enjoying loan spells with Stranraer and Annan Athletic along the way.

The 20-year-old, who can play anywhere along the front line, battled back from a pre-season injury and moved across the Ayrshire divide to join Ayr United in November having impressed during a trial period – featuring four times for the Honest Men.

He signed a permanent deal at The Marbill Coaches Stadium until the end of the season, and made his debut just hours after agreeing his deal against Elgin City.

Boss Frank McKeown said: “Aaron is very quick, very direct and someone who has proven in his short loan spells that he can score goals in both League 1 and League 2.

“He is a player Ayr United were keen to keep a hold of however, following some negotiations, I’m delighted to have got him permanently. He comes to us hungry to push on with his career and also to prove a point. I’ve no doubt he can show the talent that he undoubtedly has. We’re confident he’ll be a major threat for us.”
