PLAY-OFFS GET UNDER WAY

Dumbarton travel to Galabank this evening for the first-leg of their cinch League One play-off semi-final with Annan Athletic.

Sons finished second in League Two whilst results on Saturday meant that Annan ended the season in third place with the sides now set to meet in a two-legged contest. The return tie takes place on Saturday.

East Fife, who finished fourth in League Two, will meet Clyde, who finished ninth in League One, in the other semi-final which also takes place this evening and Saturday.

The winner of the two ties will then meet in the final on May 16 and May 19.

There’s a lot of football to be played until then, however, and boss Stevie Farrell is expecting Annan to attempt to make the most of home advantage.

Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “Over the last couple of games of the regular season we were just pleased to get over the line with no fresh injuries or suspensions.

“Getting minutes into the legs of some of those players who have just returned from injury has also been a welcome bonus.

“Games with Annan this season have been tough, despite us having the upper hand when it comes to the head to head, and we expect this evening to be no different.

“It was only last month they beat us at Galabank in a game they started incredibly fast and I am sure this evening they will be looking to put on a similar performance in front of their supporters.”

Ross MacLean will miss this evenings tie through illness with Ryan Wallace and John Gemmell also remaining unavailable.
