DUMBARTON have narrowly beaten Bonnyrigg Rose 1-0 this afternoon after another cagey encounter with the Midlothian side.
After a frustrating opening to the game, the deadlock was broken on 15 minutes when a Kalvin Orsi cross dropped for Gregg Wylde to finish.
But the rest of the first half was scrappy, with a Dean Brett shot saved by Brett Long the only real chance for either side.
In the second half, Orsi almost set up David Wilson for a second goal, but the goalkeeper turned away the midfielder’s effort.
With 14 minutes left, newly introduced visiting substitute Callum Connolly almost equalised with his first touch, but headed over from a corner at close range.
It was not the most comfortable afternoon of the season by a long way, but Dumbarton held on.
Sons travel to Stenhousemuir next Saturday.
