Dumbarton make the journey to Stranraer this evening for cinch League Two action [kick-off 7.45pm].

Sons will be encouraged by recent back-to-back victories that has put a promotion play-off spot firmly in their hands.

Victories over tonight’s opponents last weekend and three points against Peterhead on Saturday have put Stevie Farrell’s side nine points clear of fifth place, with a win tonight potentially taking Dumbarton to second.

Stranraer have as much need for three points themselves with Clyde hot on their heels at the foot of the division and boss Farrell knows it won’t be easy tonight.

He commented: “With the way we have been playing in the last month or so it was only a matter of time until the players got what they deserved from matches and over the last two games we have started to see that.

“We will need to be at our best against a side who have everything to play for having seen just last weekend how hard we had to work for three points.

“Games like tonight are when you need everyone in your squad to pull together and play their part with a busy period of matches.”

In team news, Mark Durnan is set for a return to the squad. Kalvin Orsi will undergo a fitness test ahead of kick-off.
