MATCH PREVIEW: QUEEN OF THE SOUTH VS DUMBARTON
Dumbarton travel to Dumfries tomorrow looking to return to winning ways in William Hill League One.
Last weeks cup exit to Airdrieonians was one to forget for Sons whilst the Doonhamers were knocked out by Premiership side St Mirren.
There was then midweek action for Queen’s as they earned a 3-2 win over Inverness CT to put them level on points with fourth placed Alloa Athletic.
The sides have already faced three times this year with the Dumfries side winning two home games – one in the Premier Sports Cup, one in the league – by a 2-0 score line whilst a last gasp penalty from Tony Wallace earned Sons a 2-1 home win in November.
Dumbarton have only played twice since the turn of the year and boss Stevie Farrell is keen for his side to get back to their best.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We didn’t show up last week and were undone by a clinical Airdrieonians side but it’s important we look to move on tomorrow.
“We have shown on numerous occasions this season we can be a match for any team in the division if we are at our best.
“It’s been good to welcome some new faces into the dressing room as well as guys returning from injury so we are looking in good shape, though a few have dropped out this week with an illness.
“All we can do is keep chipping away at the teams above us, we know it isn’t going to be easy but with the support from our fans and the belief and talent we have in the squad, we are more than capable.”
Farrell welcomes Michael Ruth and Michael Miller back to his squad but will be without Matty Shiels, Tony Wallace and David Wilson.
Tickets must be purchased online in advance and can be obtained here: https://qosfc.ticketco.events/uk/en/e/queen_of_the_south_v_dumbarton24. Tickets will be available online until kick off or at the ground on the day of the game from the ticket office located within the QOS Arena.
The Sons Supporters Trust Travel Group is not running a bus for this game. Supporters making the journey are advised to check before they travel and take care after the red weather warning was in place across much of the country on Friday.
