MATCH PREVIEW: DUMBARTON VS INVERNESS CT
Dumbarton face Inverness Caledonian Thistle for the final time this season tomorrow afternoon as the season heads into the final quarter [kick-off 3:00pm].
Sons are back at the Marbill Coaches Stadium for the third time in the space of a week following narrow defeats to Stenhousemuir and Arbroath in recent outings.
Inverness have lost just once in their last five matches, their most recent results being a 1-0 win at Kelty that was followed up with a 1-1 draw against Montrose.
Home advantage has proved to be key in the meetings between the sides this season with a 1-1 draw at the Caledonian Stadium on the opening day of the campaign followed up with a 3-1 win for Dumbarton at the Rock in October and then a 2-0 victory for Caley in January.
Boss Stevie Farrell believes there was nothing in Tuesday’s match with Arbroath once again but was left to rue costly errors.
Speaking post-match on Tuesday, he said: “We were up against top of the league and it’s another close encounter. We’ve had a couple of chances and hit the bar and scored.
“There wasn’t much in the game in the second-half and we make a mistake from another corner where we don’t pick up at the second phase. The goals we are losing are just individual errors.
“I thought we were in the game right until the end which is just the way it’s going. Once again, I can’t fault the effort and I just wish they would get a wee break.
“It’s been a busy week but we welcome everything that is bringing to us. It’s another tough test for us tomorrow but we have shown we can compete with Inverness throughout the season.”
Remember our Retro Kit sale will be taking place in Bar 72 before kick-off – donations have been coming in throughout the week and we expect interest to be high so those interested are urged to visit in plenty of time.
