Our women’s team made it four wins on the spin with a comfortable 5-0 victory over West Park United.

Captain Eva McInnes netted a second successive hat-trick for the Sons while Mya Logan also continued her good end-of-season form with another goal.

McInnes’s first goal was set up thanks to a defence splitting pass from vice-captain Mirren Esdale, who continued to excel in the number six position, moving forward from her previous central defensive position.

Defender Niamh McAleer also netted from an excellent, trademark Gemma Smith corner as Kenny McInnes’s side secured an impressive scoreline after the side’s went in goalless at the break.

“We are all very pleased for the girls who kept our recent momentum going.

“We played into a strong wind first half which made things very difficult but still came close on several occasions.

“A number of our players showed great responsibility in the second half to make the difference and take advantage of having the wind on our backs.

“The girls kept the ball on the deck and played some really nice football and notched up the goals.”

McInnes also welcomed back top scorer Gemma McGarry to the side, coming on as a substitute during the victory.

“It was very pleasing to welcome back Gemma into the side,” explained McInnes.

“She helped others to find space around her and even set Eva up for one of her goals.

“Eva’s form has been excellent recently and her pace and clinical finishing saw her grab another hat-trick and another player-of-the-match award.”
