Match Report

This match concludes the ScottishPower Regional League Cup Central-West 2 group stage and sees the team qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Our women’s side bounced back from last weeks heavy defeat by winning 6-0 against Houston United in Erskine.

Alisha Biggerstaff continued her promising early season form with the opener in the first half.

Further goals from Neamh MacNeil x2, Mirren Esdale, Iona Russell and a second from Biggerstaff completed the six goal rout for the ladies, who now progress to the knockout rounds of the competition.

“The match gave us an opportunity to reset and the team had a bit more balance to it. All the girls responded well and controlled the match from kick off,” said McInnes post-match.

“Alisha was a stand out with her first half performance. All the goals were pretty special with Iona’s the pick of the bunch. Mirren also had a trademark long range strike.

“The day, however, was tinged with sadness though with MacNeil scoring twice in her last performance and Lucia Sereno also giving a typically solid display in her last match too.

Having lost Mya Logan earlier in the week. All the girls have University commitments and will be a huge loss after up to 10 years of commitment to Dumbarton United and now Dumbarton FC.”
