Our women’s team returned to winning ways with a comfortable 6-1 victory away to Carron Ladies this afternoon.

Despite blistering conditions thwart with heavy wind and intermittent rain we took an immediate lead with captain Eva McInnes capitalising on an early mistake from the hosts’ keeper to tuck home within two minutes.

Natasha Lewis would double our lead with a finish at the back post after a good delivery from the opposite right flank from McInnes before a superb finish from 15-year-old debutant Anya Fraser after being played through on goal by the skipper.

We would continue our scoring form in the second half.

Following a corner the ball would break to Mirren Esdale in the six-yard box. The defender would turn and slot the ball into the corner with a strikers finish.

We would add a fifth soon after.

Sophie Reid would make an overlapping run from midfield into the box but her chipped effort would come back off the bar.

Thankfully Mya Logan was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Kira Swallow had shown good hands throughout the match, but she was finally beaten by a long-range free kick from Carron.

But we would net our sixth and final goal to finish the game in style.

Rose Haley would lay off Logan on the left flank; she would cut inside and curl home an unstoppable effort to ensure we would leave Little Kerse with three points and a five goal advantage.

Women’s manager Kenny McInnes praised his team after their victory.

He said: “The conditions made it difficult for both sides and with a number of key players missing who were available for the original fixture we’re obviously happy to come away with the three points.

“Mirren had another strong performance while Sophie Reid, Neamh MacNeil & Alisha Biggerstaff gave us plenty of energy in midfield.

“Eva & Mya were constantly using the big pitch to give us plenty of width and when that happened we looked dangerous. Mya’s long range effort being the best of our goals.

“What particularly delighted us was the introduction of promising under 16’s talent Anya who came on and made an instant impact with a clinical finish to a well worked team goal.”

Next up for the ladies is a trip to Gleniffer Thistle next Sunday.
