DUMBARTON TAKE POINT AT STIRLING

DUMBARTON have taken what could be an important point away to Stirling Albion after a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

Sons started brightly, and a header by Peter Grant from a corner was turned away by the home goalkeeper.

With 20 minutes played the opening goal came when Ross MacLean headed home a Kalvin Orsi cross.

But another header brought the home side level on 34 minutes, Robert Thomson scoring from a corner.

Seven minutes into the second half Sons restored their lead when Finlay Gray thrashed home after creating space in the box.

An audacious volley from the edge of the box by Ryan Blair also went narrowly wide.

However, Thomson then headed home from a corner again to make it 2-2 after 70 minutes.

The work rate from Dumbarton was off the scale in the closing stages, but there was no further scoring and the gap at the top remains two points.

League action resumes with a home double header this week, against Forfar Athletic on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm) and Stenhousemuir on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
