DUMBARTON LOSE TO WARRIORS

DUMBARTON have lost 2-1 at home to Stenhousemuir today, losing more ground in the race at the top of the league.

The early stages of the game were held up for several minutes by an injury to Stenhousemuir’s Jacob Blaney, who had to leave the action after only six minutes.

A Ryan Wallace shot which crashed off the bar provided the game’s first clear chance.

The visitors’ Michael Miller then also hit the woodwork, albeit with a cross, as the teams toiled.

In the fourth minute of first half injury time, Sons led, Aron Lynas scoring with a well struck shot from the edge of the box.

With 20 minutes left, Stenny equalised, Gavin Reilly converting from a cross from the left.

They could then have taken the lead, but Sons were relieved to see Thomas Orr shoot across goal at close range.

However, he made no mistake with a finish at the back post from a corner on 78 minutes.

Dumbarton’s next game is away to Annan Athletic next Saturday.
