DUMBARTON LOOKING TO RETURN TO ACTION

DUMBARTON hope that two weeks out of action will finally end tomorrow, with Albion Rovers visitors to Dumbarton Football Stadium.

Having waited a fortnight to kick on from the 2-0 win at Stranraer, Sons are desperate to get back into match action and continue the pursuit of their ultimate goal this season.

However, once again there is awareness of how tough it will be against the men from Coatbridge, with Dumbarton having had to work to take seven points from them this season.

Manager Stevie Farrell respects the challenge ahead, but wants a result which will keep his team at the top of cinch League Two.

He said: “During the run out of action, the players’ attitude and workrate in training has been first class, but we all want to return to match action.

“All being well, we will get that chance tomorrow, and it is something we are up for. We have been waiting to move forward after two positive results before the run of postponements.

“As always, though, it will not be easy to get a result. Albion Rovers have made it tough for us in our three previous meetings and we fully expect the same tomorrow.

“They have it all to play for, but so do we, and if we can pick up where we left off in our last game, we have to be confident.”

Groundsman Jim Paton will be working on the Dumbarton Football Stadium pitch today, and with the weather forecast looking reasonably promising, there is hope that the game will take place tomorrow.

Team news is along similar lines to what was expected on Tuesday – Stuart Carswell could return, but Ryan Wallace, David Wilson and John Gemmell will once again be absent.

Fans have the opportunity of an early start tomorrow, as Stevie will take part in Meet the Manager ahead of the game. The Q&A will start at 12.30pm and run until 1.30pm latest.

Admission for fans paying on the day costs £15 for adults, £10 for over-65s and students (valid ID required), and £5 for under-16s. Season ticket holders and Young Sons members will of course get in with their passes as usual.

Away supporters will be situated in the west section of the stand, but are welcome to enter through the home turnstiles and make use of Bar 72 before the game.

There is also the chance to win a cash windfall in our half time draw, which you can purchase a ticket for in advance.

Rovers were also out of action last Saturday, with their game at home to Stranraer postponed. Their last outing was on Saturday, March 4, when they lost 3-2 at Stirling Albion.

Alex Shepherd is the referee tomorrow, and will have assistance from Colin Drummond and Chris Hughes.
