We’re delighted to support West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare’s Toybank appeal this Christmas, with the Marbill Coaches Stadium a drop-off point for donations.
Each year the charity ensures that hundreds of local youngsters have something to open on Christmas morning – regardless of their family’s finances.
And we’re proud to say DFC will be supporting the initiative, which expects record demand this year, with supporters urged to leave a gift at The Marbill Coaches Stadium.
New toys or gifts can be dropped off during opening hours or matchdays until December 8, when volunteers will then begin work to distribute these to families in need in time for the big day.
WDCF are also in urgent need of non-perishable food items for their Christmas food parcels.
Clair Coyle, Charity Manager of WDCF, said: “The ongoing Cost of Living Crisis means many families in our community will struggle to afford gifts or even food this festive season.
“We are expecting over 1,000 referrals for children who may otherwise wake up on Christmas morning without a single present.
“To help, we are running our Christmas Toybank again this year, and are inviting local businesses to donate new toys or gifts, which we will distribute to families in need. We are also in urgent need of non-perishable food items for our Christmas food parcels.
“We are so grateful for any support that anyone can offer.”
Cameron Watson, Executive Director of Dumbarton Football Club, said: “Community is at the heart of everything we do at DFC, and we’re proud to be supporting West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare in the work they do to ensure that Christmas is a little merrier for children and young people in our area.
“This is the first in a number of initiatives that we’ll be working on to support the community over the Festive period, and we’re sure it will be well supported by our fans.”
